Granya - A gem along the Murray River Road
Granya is a small town located 40km east of Wodonga just off the Murray River Road. The Granya area has a small population of 91 people and the town was established in 1860 during the gold rush days.
Although the town is small, the area is extremely picturesque and has a great hotel which offers hearty country meals, drinks, accommodation and free camping. The Granya Hotel is very popular with cyclists and motorcyclists who find it a convenient stop when travelling along the scenic Murray River Road.
The Granya Pioneer Museum is worth a visit and the collection on display includes up to 500 items. Mount Granya State Park is a short drive away and offers short walks and longer hikes. Be sure to take a look at the beautiful Granya Falls (seasonal).
